Emergency Surgery After Delivery Story..

So we got released from the hospital on 9/25. I had a wedding to shoot that Friday on the 28th. Yes, you MIGHT think im crazy.. BUT i had Baiden 4 weeks early. I wasnt supposed to have a baby yet and i just could NOT bail. ESPECIALLY on a wedding! That is so so stressful to loose your photographer right before your wedding and have to find another one that you like, for the right price. ANYWAY.

So Friday comes, and literally, about an hour and a half before i need to leave.. BAM, most intense pain in the world come in my lower left pelvic region. I was DYING. It was so intense. It came in waves and kept getting more and more intense. I was bawling and couldnt even get up out of bed. I thought maybe my appendix burst but after googling it.. my appendix is not on my left side haha.
My husband Jeff was so concerned and got me heating pads etc. About 45 minutes before i had to leave, i finally i caved to my pain meds given to me from delivering Baiden. 30 minutes before i needed to leave i could finally get out of bed, and 20 minutes after that i was ready to go! THANK HEAVENS for my best friend Nikki who came to the wedding with me to help shoot and also drove me there sense im not supposed to drive with my pain meds. I felt fine but ya know, better safe then sorry. And thank HEAVENS for an amazing bride who was so understanding to my situation and me being 20 minutes late!
We shot the wedding, it was BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL couple, and i was completely pain free and had a great time shooting this amazing wedding.

The next morning (Saturday) i woke up and the pain was BACK, but on my right side this time. Jeff got the pain meds.. the pain went away for the entire day, didnt even think about it.
At about 7:30 that evening, the pain came back AGAIN and it was even worse then it had been. I called the on call O.B and he told me to go to the ER immediately because what i was experiencing was not normal. I kinda panicked. I didnt know what to do with my kids, and i ESPECIALLY didnt know what to do with my newborn who didnt sleep through the night and that i was trying to breast feed and was only a week old and had MAJOR separation anxiety over.
So i called my sister who lives like 5 minutes away, and she was fine taking the kids. I have amazing people in my life.

We got to the ER at about 8:30 or 9:00, and HOLY CRAP! It was PACKED. It was a full moon and EVERYONE in Utah decided to go the ER i guess. They were doing I.V's and Blood draws right there in the waiting area. Finally around 11:00pm i got my I.V, and at 11:30pm i got taken back for an ultrasound. During the ultrasound it was pretty obvious that the tech lady found something but she wasnt allowed to tell us.We went BACK to the waiting room, and around midnight, FINALLY  got taken back to be seen.

After the doc checked me and reviewed the ultrasound, it was decided that i had some placenta that didnt deliver after i had Baiden, and that i was going to need to be put under for an emergency D&C before it started to get infected. I was nervous to be put under but it had to be done.
If you dont know what a D&C is, basically they go up into your uterus, and scrape it all out. Lovely i know.

Anyway, the surgery went fast. I woke up, was moved to recovery, slept a little bit, went to go get the kids, and was home around 2:30am i think.
Doc said id INSTANTLY feel better and he was right. My recovery time was instant pretty much. Just had to take it easy and not lift over 19lbs for a few weeks.

And dont even worry! I definitely went and did another photo session that evening! Hahaha! Ill blame my craziness on my pain meds ;) But really, i felt fine, and again, wasnt bailing :)

Day 2 &3 In Hospital!

This is more of a photo dump post haha!

So on Monday, the 24th, was day 2 in the hospital! Everything was continuing to go smooth! Baiden's sugar levels were low but i was trying to breast feed. So we had to start supplementing with formula. But where i was wanting to breast feed we had to feed him in a really complicated way. If you've done this before, you'll know what im talking about but basically i had to use a syringe that had a tube attached to it. I'd fill the syringe with formula, let Baiden latch on to the boob, and stick the tube in his mouth. So as he sucked the boobie, he was sucking down the formula too. It worked really well, but if he wouldn't latch good, we would just have to finger feed him. (Let him suck our finger with the tube.. etc etc).

My sister Jessica. She was with me almost the entire time at the hospital :) The company was very nice. I sure do love her.

Sister brought brother a toy doggy :)

She is so sweet with him

My other sister Becky. She is my sister that took care of Braylee while we were in the hospital. Yes, i have amazing sisters :)
I love being a mommy of 2 kids!
Jeff's mom :)
cute Rylee (Nikki's daughter) and Kyndsi (Nikki;s niece)
Kage meets Baiden! Kage is Baiden's trainer in how to be a perfect baby :)
Kage was soooo cute! He wanted to MAUL Baiden. True best friends already ;)
Now THATS what i call a SANDWICH! I love hospital food :)

 Isnt he so precious??
 Bestie Ashley came to visit!
 :) good night little man
Please check out how swollen my foot/ankle got lol

Day 3!
Jeff's cute ;ittle air mattress. So much better then that chair bed they have.
My boys :) Melts my heart :)

She seriously loves her brother so much

Due to Baiden's sugar levels being low.. there was a possibility that he would have to stay another day. I did NOT want to go home with out my baby! But we lucked out.. He was going to be released on the 3rd day (9/25) but not until the evening.
I on the other hand, was released in the morning by my O.B (Baiden has a separate doctor). But the hospital i stayed at was SOO sweet and even though i was released, let me stay in my room to be with Baiden. They brought me tons of formula sense i had Baiden early, was planning on breastfeeding anyway, and was totally unprepared for needing formula. I didnt even ask. SWEETEST nurses EVER!! They even sent me cards and all my nurses signed it :) OMG i cried..

Anyway, so the evening of the 25th, we were released from the hospital! September 25th is my dad's bday and my Niece Sam's bday. So we went straight to my moms to hang out for a minute and say happy birthday. There were SO many people, i was exhausted, and i just got anxious with the new baby, so we didnt stay long. And then we finally headed home!

Home life blog post will be coming soon :)

Baiden's NICU Story...

So when Baiden was born, there was a respiratory team ready to check him and make sure he was breathing good. After they did all their little tests, they deemed him as good to go! Baiden was born at 11:47am, and through out the day was fine. We were enjoying our new bundle of joy and some visitors that came through out the day!

In the afternoon sometime, Baiden started making this cooing/whining sound. It was seriously the cutest thing! The nurse on shift came in and heart Baiden making this sound and wanted to take him to the nursery to check his oxygen. She did so, and brought him right back. His oxygen was fine.
We continued through out the day loving on him and loving his cute little coo thing he was doing.

The next shift came on and the new nurse came in and heard what he was doing and said the same thing. She took him to the nursery, but this time he was gone for like an hour. The nurse kept coming back in to tell us they checked his oxygen, it was good, so now they are going to check this. About 2 hours went by, she came back in and said they were just waiting on same lab work they did on him.
An hour or so after that, at around 11:30pm ish, Jeff was asleep, and the nurse came in to inform me that Baiden was in the NICU and that his oxygen kept getting worse and worse so thats why he was in there. She then said we could go up to see him in about 15 minutes and get all the details of what was going on..

My heart fell out of my chest. I kid you not. Every scary thought went through my head. But i held it together so that i could calmly wake Jeff up and tell him what was going on. I woke him up, and as soon as i got the words "Baiden is in the NICU" out, i started balling. Jeff flew up out of his cute little air mattress so fast and was ready to head up to the NICU.
When we got there there was a whole team of people right by Baiden's side monitoring him and decided how they needed to help his breathing out.

It was so hard to see him this way. Add in all my post pregnancy crazy emotions... it was hard for me to hold it together (and i didnt). They had to start an I.V on him.. that was super hard to watch. Especially where it took a couple tried to get it in. They kept poking and prodding and hooking things up to him and all i wanted to do was hold him and take all his pain away... Then... it got worse...
They decided he needed a C-Pap machine to help him breathe. Its a machine that simple adds an extra puff of air into his lungs to prevent his lungs from collapsing  But it LOOKS intense and was so hard to see my tiny son that way...

I basically hadnt slept sense Thursday (this was Sunday night/Monday morning) and the nurses kept reasurring me that he was in good hands and that we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted but encouraged me to get some sleep... so i agreed to do so at about 12:30am.

Around 4:00am, a nurse came in to wake me up, and she had my sweet baby boy. He was off the machine and out of the NICU and doing awesome. All he needed was about 4 hours on the machine.

I cant even describe to you that moment and getting my baby back into my arms to hold him and love on him.

Words can not even express my appreciation to the team of people who made sure my son was well taken care of and on the road to recovery. The hospital i stayed at is truly the best!

Baiden's {Birth Story}...

Sorry its taken so long but things have been CRAZY busy! And it was crunch time on editing a wedding due to all the craziness in the first week Baiden was born. ANYWAY!!

So if you missed the previous post, you might want to read it (find it --->HERE)
It's the beginning part of my labor story..now here is the rest.
(labor video at the end)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so we hit the road to head home from the cabin.. and BAM, contractions begin!

I seriously thought "oh here come my normal annoying braxton hicks contractions that ive been having all week". I started drinking lots of water and Gatorade to hydrate myself and to make my contractions stop. They were instantly 3 minutes apart. I kept timing them to make sure they started to space apart like they normally do. 15 minutes go by, contractions were still 2-3 minutes apart and getting pretty strong. 30 minutes..same. I've never felt intense contraction and these were intense. (With Braylee i was induced and i got my epidural asap).
My doc told me if they were 2-3 minutes apart for an hour, to go to the hospital. So an hour of driving goes by, and i told Jeff, "well go straight to the hospital!" I SERIOUSLY thought we'd just get sent home. I was only 36 weeks (that day).
We got to the hospital at about 2:00am. The nurse checked me at about 2:15am and i was dilated to a "stretchy 3..almost a 4". The nurse said she'd re-check my in an hour, and if i had progressed, i would be admitted. I thought FOR SURE i wouldnt progress.

At 3:15 am i was checked again and i was at a 4.
My contractions were getting really intense, my doc was called, and i was officially admitted at 3:30am.
I couldnt get my epidural yet so to manage pain, they started my I.V at 3:45am and gave me phentenol (spelling). I did NOT like that stuff. All it did was made me really loopy.

I called my mom (and Jeff called his mom) and i sent out the text to all my million sisters to let them know we were having a baby. I also text Nikki Hatch (who was at the cabin). She was going to come be in the room and to take pictures cuz she is amazing. But she was asleep.

I cant really remember when i got my epidural. I think it was around 4:45am, cuz my sister Jessica got there around 5am and i already had my epidural.
At that point i was able to get a little sleep....
(thanks Jess for this adorable pic lol. I look 300 pounds cuz of all the blankets i had on lol)
 Braylee finally fell asleep..
i kept dilated a centimeter about every hour.

At about 8am i was dilated to a 7....
9am i was STILL at a 7...
{{I stalled out}}

This is where i started to panic. The nurse said that Baiden was turned face up (thats bad) and thats why i had stalled out. My sister in law's son was face up and her delivery was a HORROR story. I was SO SO scared!
At 9:15am pitocin was started to make labor get going again.
At 10:15 after my water was broke, things started progressing REALLY fast. Baiden's heart rate kept dropping and i was freaking out. They gave me an oxygen mask to help him out. At 10:50 I WAS COMPLETE.
My O.B was about 20 minutes away so the nurse said to just relax while we wait for her. I was happy with that cuz i wanted baby to kinda work his way down himself.

It all worked AMAZING cuz all the sudden, i heard Nikki's voice, and THERE she was!
Oh man i started crying haha. SHE MADE IT!!
(the rest of the photos were taken by her, edited by me, she is amazing!!)

Jeff ready to deliver the son.. haha he is such a character.

 Jeff getting in trouble lol.

haha he is out of control..

11:30a.m my O.B arrived and we geared up for baby!

 And pushing began.
