Be True, or Eff You.

"We all can use more positive friends. Hanging out with people who are negative can actually influence our thinking and bring us down. Try and surround yourself with positive thinking people. People who will encourage you, who will help and support you in times of need, people who make you laugh"

-Unknown

Sorry if the tittle of this is offensive, i dont mean it that way. It rhymed and perfectly depicts what im about to say. And what i mean by the tittle is, be a true friend, or ill show you the door.

Im not writing this post because of anything that im going through because i have only positive people in my life, but more so i am writing this because it hurts me to see loved ones struggle with this. I am very protective and when i see others hurt my loved ones when they are a so called FRIEND, it really pisses me off.

I consider myself a really positive person. I like to feel good, but even more so, i like to make others feel good. I put others before myself. I think that if everyone could live this way life would be perfect. But instead this world is filled with selfish people. People who are so miserable that they want everyone else to be miserable too and have lost all consideration of others because they have lost themselves. Hearts that are so cold and filled with so much hate.

"Only your real friends will tell you when your face is dirty"
-Sicilian Proverb

You can fill your life with hundreds of "friends". Friends that will use you, stab you in the back, lie to you, talk shiz behind your back, cut you down, negatively influence you to "have a good time". Call you names, point out all your flaws, steal from you. But how can you call them friends? How can you keep people like this in your life?

There is a difference between being a true friend and being honest, than just being down right mean. Ya know, i want my friends to give me honest opinions, i want my friends to tell me when im in the wrong, i want them to tell me when i step out of line. Thats what friends are for, to help you be the best person you can be. But i also want friends who bring me up. Who tell me i look pretty that day. Who tell me that they are lucky to have me as a friend. Who makes me feel special and appreciated.

"Though we all have the fear and the seeds of anger within us, we must learn not to water those seeds and instead, nourish our positive qualities those of compassion, understanding, and loving kindness". -Unknown

We all have our flaws. No one is perfect. I have my days that i feel down, but if i dont have people to pick me back up it become so easy to just stay down. But what if i had someone in my life who kicked me when i was down? Who even though they know that i am having a bad day or that i am sad, will selfishly over look the fact that i need a "pick me up", and will keep me down only because they are down too.

Friendships like this just cant coexist. If you cant even hold yourself up how can you hold someone else up?

We are supposed to hold each other up. To support each other.

I so badly wish i could carry everyone on my shoulders. I wish i could save every lost soul. I wish i could make everyone happy. I wish i could help everyone. I have learned to look past the flaws, to look deeper into people. There is a reason why people are the way they are. Anger is a secondary emotion. First there is pain, or fear, or sorrow. I wish i could figure out that pain, and make it go away so that the anger follows and that all that is left is happiness. But you cant help people who wont help themselves.

If you want good friends you gotta be a good friend. If you want good people in your life you have to be a good person. Lead by example. Karma is your best friend and your worst enemy. I live by karma. Be positive and you will get positive.

If you've read through all this and made it to this point, props to you :) My point with this post is that we need to rid ourselves of the negative. We need to surround ourselves with positive. People who will pick you up when you are down. Life is too short to be wasting it being sad and unhappy.

I agree with you. Bad friends bring you down. I hate to see people suffer because they have "friends" who treat them badly.

Great post! This hits so close to home today. My cousin's grandmother {on the other side of her family} totally blasted her on FB with hurtful words that a grandmother should never say. It's pathetic. I'm her cousin, I'm protective over my friends and family...no naturally I want to tell her to eff off or eff herself! Grrr! But it's nice having someone that can relate.

I just smile through gritted teeth and say, "bless your little heart"

Makes me feel better, just a smidge.

But cheer up buttercup! Have a wonderful day, Christa.

This was awesome girl! Thanks for this post, I completely agree w/ you...
It is really hard for me because I have a couple people in my family that have gone down a very negative BAD path, & I don't know how to help them. I guess, just lead by example & be there when they wake the heck UP!

Goodness, I know what you are talking about! A year or so again I went through a HORRIBLE situation with two girls that I thought were my best friends. Little did I know they were scheming behind my back to absolutely slay me to death practically. It was so awful and so sad. And it literally felt like a break up, I cried for weeks. And now to be honest I have serious trust issues when it comes to women/girls my age. I feel like they are all just waiting to cut me down and run me over. I so badly long for that true friend, someone who is the friend to me that I feel I try to be to others. So far it hasn't happened, I'm still hoping. I feel so jealous of all these other bloggers who seem to have these great circles of friends who babysit for them, throw them parties, get them gifts and vice versus. I want that (insert pout).

So true. A few years ago, I decided to cut a bad seed out of my life. She was a close friend, but was sucking the life out of me. It was a tough decision, but I don't regret it in the least. Positivity breeds positivity. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a wonderful weekend.

Jessica

p.s. Your little girl is gorgeous!

Love the title! :)
And I agree with your post. I don't understand why people have to bring others down, especially so called friends.

Oh my goodness girl. I so needed to read this. Just today my husband and I were talking about how we need to get rid of the toxic people in our lives. It is so unbelievably true how being around negative people brings you down. I've found myself being in a toal negative funk lately b/c of those toxic people in my life! Love this post. (New follower btw).
