RESULTS {6 Week Body Challenge}

So we started this challenge on August 1st!
I told you in THIS post that my goal was to lose body fat!

So here we are, 6 weeks later, time to show results!

I SWEAR to you, i dont mean this is a cocky self righteous way... but i SWEAR, my purpose in life is to be a leader and example of the HARD things in life.
The worst case scenario type stuff.
{shaking my head}

I was nervous to take these pictures cuz well..
ive only lost ONE pound in 6 weeks.

If you've been following all my posts, you've seen all my hard work. That ive been using fitness pal, counting cals, eating clean ish (not 100%). Working out, etc etc.

Ive also explained that i battle swelling from my tummy tuck in April, and Hashimotos Hypothyroidism. When i started this challenge, i was just given a higher dose of medication cuz my thyroid is off. It takes 6 weeks for the medication dose to fully take effect...
**So HERE WE ARE, 6 weeks later.. no weight loss. Except 2 days ago, i finally lost ONE pound.

So yes. i was nervous.

But i took my "after" Photos..
and THIS is why... you can't focus of the scale.

as you can see.. there is a bigger space between my arms and hips but my hands are in the same spot. Love handle slimming.... ill take it!

this pic KILLS me!
This is about a 10 weeks difference... but WOW!
i didnt think it EVER possible to build my arms!

Ab definition.
Abs are made in the kitchen! Remember??

MAJOR back fat loss.
That was my MAIN goal :))

No makeup... had to cover face haha

This 6 week challenge is over..
but remember... a healthy body is a LIFESTYLE, not a short term goal!

Keep being healthy continue pushing your limits!
If you participated in this challenge, link your post in my comments so i can come see how you did!

Set your mind.
Set your goals.
Make it happen.
:)

Cardio vs. Weight Training

Im so behind on blogging!
I apologize! Been way busy with my photography!

Lets talk cardio vs weight training!

The BIGGEST (but not limited to) difference, is cardio is more for fat loss... and weight training is more muscle toning, defining, and building.

But what people often mistake and miss out on... is weight training actually helps you burn fat when you're just sitting on the couch vegging out, or sleeping, etc.

People ask, which is best?

In my opinion, i think you NEED both!

I LOOOOVE weight training!
There is nothing better than pushing your limits and increasing the weight!
i think muscles (lean ones) on women are SOOOO gorgeous!

I cant show my before pics cuz that is for a different post...
But yes, i love to lift :)

Here is a video i did on a moderated but AMAZING results squat challenge.
i will show THESE before and after though haha

5K Training!

So you hear a lot about "5K Runs".
Maybe you've been thinking about doing one..
Or maybe someone is trying to get you to do one...

Where do you start?

First, a 5K is 3.1 miles.

Usually, most 5k's are for great causes to earn money!
So they are a good idea, especially if you like to run!
and you get a cool shirt saying you made it! :)

I ran a lot in high school. Wanted to do a 5k, and didnt really train much for it, but i did fine where i was already big into running!

I later tried a 10K, didnt train, and pretty much passed into the next life. I dont know how i finished it. HUGE mistake not training!

So i dont really have a whole lot to say about 5k training except to make a plan for yourself.
Give yourself about 9 weeks to train, and break down your distances until you are up to 3.1 miles!

There is an app called "Couch To 5k"
Check that out!

But here is the gist of it!

Working Out At Home V.S Working Out At The Gym

Both of these have pros and cons....
So bottom line.... this topic depends on your lifestyle and motivational needs.

I used to have a gym pass. It was really fun to go!
But then i had kids.

I can never find the time nor motivation to GET there!

So for me, working out at home works better.
And that is what ill mostly talk about.

Trust me, it has taken YEARS to build up my little home gym. Ive been collecting work out DVDs sense i was 16.
The weights i had to get one set per paycheck.
The bike was a Christmas gift we saved up for.
The weights/barbell were another Christmas.... Trust me, im the queen of working with a budget :)

Weights are only like $2-$5 a pop... the bigger the weight, the more it costs. so slowly buy them!
I only work with 5's, 8's and 10's
i think exercise balls are like $10... and my resistance band came with one of my Pilates videos.. but i know they are cheap!

Even things as simple as running/walking... using your own body weight for exercises.
There are sO many free workouts on youtube that dont require any weights..

Working out doesnt HAVE to cost money!
-----------------------------------

Pros & Cons of Working out at home!
*Cheaper
*more private. No one to stare at you
*Dont have to leave
*Dont have to get a babysitter

*Harder to motivate yourself

Pros and cons of the gym!
*Expensive
*Potentially Embarrassing/judgmental
*Hard to get there
*Have to get babysitter or pay MORE for a gym babysitter

*They have all the equipment there!
*And sometimes a pool ;)

Workout Apps! Iphone & Android

Favorite work out apps and any "gadgets"!

I keep my workouts and apps really simple!
Half the time i make up my own workouts!

But here are my fav apps.

This app is great if you need ideas for what workouts work what muscle groups.
If your wanting to target a certain muscle group but arent sure what workouts to do, "Full Fitness" is great!

Ive talked about "My Fitness Pal" before, but again, this is great as a guide for what to eat according to your own personal fitness goal or to REALIZE how bad you eat haha

Like i said in my last post... music is a MUST!
if i dont have access to music, i will NOT work out!

If you dont have an iPod or dont know what songs are good workout songs.. Pandora is great for that!

Top stations:
* Pop and Hip How Power Workout
* Avicci
*David Guetta Radio

Be sure to check out Holly's post on WORKOUT Apps!

WORKOUT Outfit Of The Day :) W.O.O.T.D

Favorite work out clothing and accessories.
Girls will be girls. But its no doubt that a good workout outfit will help motivate you to workout more!
Here are my basic favorites!
I love workout clothes that are breathable so you dont get so sweaty! Any mesh basketball shorts type material will do!
i can NOT work out without my iPod! Sweatbands helpful as well!
I keep my outfits as basic as shorts and a T-shirt A LOT!
I work out at home. So i keep it real simple!

Yoga pants or any elastic type material is great as well!
Speaking of Yoga... i am going to be doing more of it!

I think the MOST important article of clothing for working out, is A GOOD SPORTS BRA!
If the girls aren't properly tied down, it can REALLY interfere with your workout and even hurt!
No one wants the ladies bouncing back in their face.
Secure them properly! :)

What I Ate Today {My Fitness Pal}

If you dont have the app "my fitness pal".. you should get it.
Even if you arent counting calories... it really opens up your mind to what you are ACTUALLY putting in your body as far as carbs, protein, sodium, all the hidden stuff.
Its even interesting to count calories when you THINK you're eating well.

Anyway. So this is what i typically eat in a day.
Im on a 12oo calorie limit.
and my goal is to eat as clean as possible.
But clearly im not a saint haha.

i couldnt resist the pie.
i had to eat it on the day i had to confess my sins on the internet.
fail.

Fitness pal is great.
You put in your goal, and it tells you how to eat!
Woot woot!

Be sure to check out Holly's post on eating healthy on a budget!
