i bet some of you were wondering what happened to my get fit get healthy challenge posts. Well what happened was i flopped out the last couple weeks.
I was doing the INSANITY workout, and after 8 weeks of losing NO weight, i gave up. Not completely though, ive been working out doing Jillian Micheals "no more trouble zones" 2-3 times a week.
SOOOO....
If you are new to my blog let me lead you into my good news.
I had been working out for 3 months straight, 2-5 times a week, doing cardio, weights, etc and lost NO weight. Not even any inches. So in February, i got a very faint positive pregnancy test so i went to the doc to test for pregnancy but i also wanted them to check my thyroid sense i was working so hard and wasnt loosing weight. Well the blood work came back positive for a pregnancy, and positive for hypothyroidism. I was put on medication, and continued to do light cardio (cycling), and still wasnt loosing weight but i wasnt too concerned sense i was pregnant. I was SO stoked to finally get control of my body, (after pregnancy of course). Well on March 23rd, i lost my baby. After that i lost 3 pounds and then nothing. I REALLY wanted to focus on getting healthy for when we try again to have a baby. I started the INSANITY work out. If you dont know what that is.. its a REALLY intense cardio workout system that has you workout at your max, 6 days a week for about 30-40 min. The workouts are always switched up so your body doesnt get used to it. After 4 weeks of working out so hard, i lost 2 pounds, and one inch in my tummy. In 4 freaking weeks, and that was it. So i went back in to my doctor (who is an idiot might i add). They did blood work and told me my levels were "normal". I asked about going to a specialist and my doc told me no. He told me to come in and we will figure something out. So i went in and he put me on a "3 day diet" (google it if your curious). Its a 600-900 calorie a day diet. But he wanted me to do it for 2 weeks and then come back. When you go to the website it says right on it NOT to do it for 3 days. WTF?? What kind of doctor does that??. After a week of no weight loss i said eff it, and eff my doctor too. I called and DEMANDED to be referred to a specialist. So the soonest i could get into a specialist was June 15th.
I continued 4 more weeks of sweating buckets of sweat 6 days a week with no results. Till the last 2 weeks i gave up on it and figured id quit wasting my time and wait for my appointment. I continued to work out 2-3 days a week and watched the scale slowly climb. Its been a REALLY depressing last couple weeks. Do you know how frustrating it is to not sit around and complain, to actually work SOOO super hard for what? just to not loose any weight and then gain weight when i only work out 3 days vs 6 days?? AHHHHH!!!! i had many breakdowns...my poor husband. But he continued to tell me how beautiful i am every single day. What a trooper.
So yesterday was my appointment with my specialist.
I was so nervous. I kept thinking, "what if they tell me its NORMAL" then what? OBVIOUSLY there is something wrong with my body. There is NO way, that at 22 years old, working out 6 days a week doing intense cardio, eating healthy (1200-1500 cals) that it is normal to not loose weight. NO WAY. So she told me what she thought was going on. She was SO caring and understanding and made me feel so comfortable. Did some blood work and said she'd call the following day...
Well today my blood work results are in....
and im not a crazy person!!
im not a hypochondriac!
and her guess was right.....
I have whats called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Its an autoimmune inherited condition. Its the most common thyroid disease in the US that affects approximately 14 million Americans and its about 7X more common in women than in men. Basically what it is is my body produces immune cells and autoantibodies and it damages my thyroid cells and causes hypothyroidism. So we are upping my dose of medication and PRAYING that that works. I go back in 6 weeks so see if the new dose is working.
I cant even express how relieving it is to KNOW what the problem was and hopefully fix that problem. Im SO stoked and and praying that THIS time, i can get control of my body.
So anyway here are the Before and Afters of my Insanity workout.
I dont think im going to "RE-DO" the insanity workout.
Instead i think i am going to start turbofire.
Wish me luck!

That's great girl!! I know it must be a relief to know now that there's a reason for what is going on. I can't believe how many people like you, have to override their doctor's orders just to finally get help-wtf!! I guess when it comes down to it, of COURSE we know what is up with our bodies better than a doctor we see for 30 minutes. I am glad you stuck it through and figured it out-but I do think that the after pictures look like you did make some progress though-so I bet once your meds straighten everything out you are going to lose the rest of the weight so fast. Good luck!
wow i could not imagine doing all that work and getting no results! glad you figured out what the problem was and are getting the treatment you need!
Glad you figured out what the issue was!

Have a great weekend!
I'm glad you figured out what was wrong. I am truly sorry for your loss. *virtual hug* also, i am following from a blog hop, follow me please: http://modernmommyreviews.blogspot.com/
I'm currently on my 3rd round of Insanity. I've done P90X, Insanity and Turbo Fire. Personally I've seen the greatest results with Insanity. I liked TF a lot but didn't see nearly the results I did with Insanity. But everyone's body is different and reacts in different ways. It's great to have fellow friends and bloggers to help keep you inspired and motivated. I have a fitness/health blog too - thecorneroffitandfat.blogspot.com I started it for inspiration and motivation for myself and others!
Desiccated porcine supplements do its job well. I never felt tired. There is no more fear of losing hair.
I sooo understand! I've been to 3 endocrine specialists, and my bloodwork keeps coming back in "the normal range".... It's so frustrating. I have an appt with a new doctor in January. I have gained 70 lbs, and absolutely cannot lose weight no matter what I do. :( I know not working out isn't helping me right now... I'm just so bummed and so tired of busting my ass with NO RESULTS. :(
