FATTY FAT: Thyroid Update

First off... lets understand the thyroid incase you are unfamiliar with it. And the thyroid disorder i have, called chronic thyroiditis or Hashimotos.

What does the thyroid do?:The role of the thyroid is to stimule metabolism and along with the parathyroid glands ( beside or near thyroid), controls the body’s circulating calcium levels.
What is Hashimotos?: Chronic thyroiditis or Hashimoto's disease is a common thyroid gland disorder. It can occur at any age, but is most often seen in middle-aged women. It is caused by a reaction of the immune system against the thyroid gland.
The disease begins slowly. It may take months or even years for the condition to be detected. Chronic thyroiditis is most common in women and people with a family history of thyroid disease

So i did a post last week and i was feeling down in the dumps
(you can find that post {{ hErE }}

Ive been feeling like this because i am just frustrated and want to feel normal again. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in February. I was put on medication (50mcg), and by June i still wasnt feeling good and demanded to see a specialist. So in June, i went to a specialist and was diagnosed with Hashimotos Hypothyroidism. Its an autoimmune thyroid disorder. Basically my body attacks my thyroid, and the thyroid is what controls your metabolism. So my meds were increased to 88mcg. 6 weeks later i was actually feeling worse.

I feel like i have no control of my body.
I never eat more than 1200 calories, i work out, and i GAIN weight. I will gain up to 3 pounds in 2 days. Of course it always comes back down but its so frustrating. I just bounce around between 3 pounds. I am easily irritated. I am depressed. And i HATE it! I normally am so happy and bubbley.
I feel like a pissed off fat cow.
Im always tired, i have no energy. I am constantly backed up which causes pain.
Im 22 years old, and i feel like a fat 80 year old woman who cant survive without her naps and prune juice.

So anyway, here is the update.
After 6 weeks of being on 88mcg of Synthroid (thyroid medication), i went back to my specialist, and its STILL OFF. I already knew that judging off how crappy i still felt and my lack of weight loss even though im eating good and working out. So we increased my meds yet AGAIN to 100mcg. I go back in 4 weeks to see if that helped.

It just seems weird that its being increased so much.
Anywho..
there is the update.

I'm so sorry you are going through all this. I know it must be so frustrating especially being so young too - you think you won't have to deal with issues like this until you are older. I do hope this increase of meds helps and balances it all out and you can start losing like you want to. I can't imagine working out and eating like that and not seeing weight loss. How disheartening!

I so feel your pain my dear. I mentioned to ya before that I to have a majorly high underactive thyroid, & also take the same medication. I'm was @ 50mcg's & now I'm @ 75mcg's. I notice a tad difference, but still don't feel "normal." Hang in there girl. My Dr tells me once they find the right dose, all will be better.

Praying for you lovlie....! xo.

Thank you for sharing. My sister has NO functioning thyroid and I always wondered what it all meant. Now I know. My sister is over weight and doesn't eat that bad and rides her bike and walks all the time and can't seem to lose a pound.
I am sorry that you are dealing with this issue. I know it must be hard. For what it's worth I think you look great and you need to love yourself fro the beautiful woman that you are. I pray that you will find some answers and get things under control. Good Luck!

Hi,

I have had Hashimoto's since I was 15. So for 16 years I have been battling it.

Just to let you know it is slightly different than regular hypothyroidism in that you are basically always fighting off what is trying to kill your thyroid. So even though you are on meds you may feel tired, etc. still It is hard.

I take tons and tons of synthroid.

Anyways, shoot me an email if you want. I am always willing to chat about it. Sorry you are dealing with it too. I'm hear if you need me :)

I have been previously using desiccated bovine supplements for 4 months now and I am happy with my health. I have more energy, I get enough sleeping hours and get out of bed rested to prepare the next day.
